Are
you interested in hosting a foreign exchange student for the 2006-2007
school year?

AFS can help. AFS is
the American Field Service. Here’s what it’s all about: |

Hosting
Did you know that the world can fit into your home? You could find
out by hosting an AFS participant from one of more than 50 AFS
countries!
AFS host families are people who care about youth, education and the
future. Some have teenagers, others have young children or children who
have already left home, or no children at all. Some host parents are
married. Some are single.
AFS families live on farms, in small towns, in suburbs and in city
apartments. They are of all races and nationalities. They are people who
are willing to take time to share with a new son or daughter.
AFS families receive no pay; getting a new son or daughter is the
reward! Hosting creates a lifetime friendship with another person - and
often - with another family in a different part of the world. Hosts also
benefit from friendships with people who have an international
perspective and by participating in AFS activities with them. |

organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help
people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create
a more just and peaceful world. |

The Core Values and
Attributes of AFS
AFS enables people to act as responsible global citizens working for
peace and understanding in a diverse world. It acknowledges that peace
is a dynamic concept threatened by injustice, inequity and intolerance.
AFS seeks to affirm faith in the dignity and worth of every human being
and of all nations and cultures. It encourages respect for human rights
and fundamental freedoms without distinction as to race, sex, language,
religion or social status.
AFS activities are based on our core values of dignity, respect for
differences, harmony, sensitivity and tolerance. |
