Mount Pleasant High School is the home of
Delaware's first high school radio station.

WMPH 91.7 FM gives great experience for students interested in being a DJ, radio host, television personality, public speaker, news journalist, sports announcer, or music promoter. Our radio students learn how to operate all broadcast equipment, communicate to a LIVE radio audience, develop a weekly radio show, and follow the rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission. WMPH is a unique broadcast learning center. The experience is intended to enhance the students' knowledge of communications, develop the thought process and organizational skills, increase community awareness, and BE FUN. WMPH 91.7 FM is about people - our students and community. Our radio students learn how to operate all broadcast equipment, communicate to a LIVE radio audience, develop a weekly radio show, and follow FCC regulations.

WMPH broadcasts remotely from special events including school functions. Our party patrol has frequently aired LIVE from clubs, carnivals, sporting events, and festivals.

WMPH DANCEfest 2006 was held at Baxter’s Club in Wilmington on November 18 from 8:00 PM until 1:30 AM. Spinning LIVE were legendary DJs John Kano, Giuseppe D, and Ray Devine. Performing LIVE on stage was Giorgio, Ohsha Kai, Drea, Gia 7, Fredrick Ford, Kristy Kay, Rachel Panay, Kathy Phillips, Pepper Mashay, and Georgie Porgie.

WMPH DANCEfest 2005 (not pictured) was held at Kahunaville's Red Room in Wilmington on June 11. We had some of the best dance artists and DJs from all over the country performing LIVE including Richard J. Dalton, Dom Armano, Dare2B Difrent, Nancy Yvonne of Boulevard East, QED, Aubrey, and Georgie Porgie.

Promotion and merchandise is part of the WMPH experience. We have had advertisements on billboards (see lower third), Yellow Pages, magazines, and local television. We also have T-shirts, bumper stickers, pens, sports bottles, and mugs.

WMPH radio station has made the local news many times. We have had press coverage on local television and other radio stations. WMPH appears in newspapers and magazines from time to time.

Clint Dantinne remodeled the existing studios in March 1993. Two years later, the entire Mount Pleasant High School moved to an alternate location while major renovations and building construction took place. The WMPH studios were relocated to a trailer during the 1995-1996 school year. In September 1996, WMPH moved to a brand new facility.

During the summer of 2003, Mount Pleasant High School and WMPH again were renovated. This time, it was the exterior of the building including all new windows.

WMPH technology is first rate. We have a sophisticated computer automation network with voice track options. All songs and announcements are cataloged in our database which calculates the spins and ranking order. An RSS feed delivers the song playing on the air to our web site immediately. We also have an original show called Total Control Radio. This is a completely computer driven show which plays whatever songs get the most online votes in real time.

WMPH 2 is a streaming internet radio station from Mount Pleasant High School. As a training facility, WMPH 2 is on the air 24 hours everyday with a wide variety of music and programming. Listen online or anywhere on campus at 88.1 FM.

The school announcements broadcast via closed-circuit television (Ch. 37) to the entire student body. WMPH-TV is a continuously operated station airing school news and student videos. Our second closed-circuit television station (Ch. 32) features both LIVE audio and video from the WMPH-FM radio studios.

The Film Club objectives are to provide students the opportunity to explore the language of film, recognize the importance of conveying messages through film elements, and give students valuable experience in analyzing and producing media.

Our recording studios offer services to all schools of the Brandywine School District. We have digitally recorded music concerts and school performances on location then mastered to compact disc. We also provide audio editing service for pep squad mixes, student voice demos, and our Puppets in Education program.

The Puppets in Education objectives are to write scripts with a socially conscious theme targeted to elementary school students, record dialogue then master the soundtrack with sound effects and background music, practice puppeteering in group sessions and review performance on video monitor, and perform on location at participating elementary schools and community groups.
