Tidal flooding forces closure of Del. Route 1 in the vicinity of the Indian River Inlet Bridge
Dover -- As expected due to tidal flooding, the Delaware State Police and Department of Transportation this afternoon have closed Route 1 between Dewey Beach and Fred Hudson Road/Road 360. Crews have posted variable message boards and detour signs in the vicinity to alert motorists of the closure. Motorists traveling south on Route 1 are advised to take Route 24 to U.S. 113 to Route 26.

After years of trying to reach a reasonable purchase agreement with the owners of Allen's Liquor Store at the corner of Route 13 and Lochmeath Way, south of Camden, the Department of Transportation (DelDOT) will acquire the property for $475,000. On or before May 15, the store will close and the site will become state property. The acquisition of the property now allows for the final design and construction of needed safety improvements at the intersection to move forward.
