Mount Pleasant High JROTC
participates in Army JCLC Camp
 
August 19, 2005 - The mission of our Army JCLC Camp adventure is to motivate young people to be better citizens. Citizenship, and leadership are always emphasized in each year of the program, while communications, physical fitness and teamwork are integral parts of the agenda.
 
This year, seven students from Mount Pleasant HS JROTC participated in the 9-day JCLC from July 7 – July 15.

The Objectives of the JCLC Camp Adventure 2005 were:
 
  • To take advantage of recreational facilities available in the area and to have fun!
  • To give cadets the opportunity to exercise living and interacting with with their peers in a military setting
  • To allow cadets to participate in citizenship-building exercises
  • To provide a safe, healthy and fun training environment that is both physically and mentally challenging
  • To provide hands-on training designed to develop leadership, discipline, teamwork and self-confidence
  • To provide adventure training not normally available on high school campuses
  • To enable cadets to practice leadership in a challenging environment
The camp's curriculum included safety procedures, map reading and land navigation, orienteering, rappelling, a leadership reaction course, a confidence/obstacle course, aquatics/drown proofing, physical training, and a much needed and exciting trip to Dorney Park.
