Library Rules

  • Be considerate of others who are working

  • Use a quiet voice

  • No food or drinks

  • Appropriate language only

  • When other are waiting, limit the time you spend on electronic and online resources

  • Show care when using all library resources

  • The Library is the place to read, research, study, or find a book

  • The Library is not to be used as a social gathering place

Library Policy for Alumni and Community

The school library is available for use during regular hours.  For special needs, please request an appointment with the librarian to secure a day and time.  Past yearbooks and school newspapers are available for your personal research.  Our library staff may not, however, accommodate personal requests to research school archives, alumni, past yearbooks, newspapers, and photographs.  The library may not mail or e-mail school archival information to any alumnus or member of the community.  All research must be done IN PERSON.

 

Library Areas

• Provides areas for both individual study and small group study.
• Upon entering the Library, students need to decide which of these areas is suitable for their study needs.
• At lunch and after school, students wishing to work quietly and independently should go to the RIGHT side of the Library.
• At lunch and after school, students wishing to work in small groups and talk quietly, should go to the LEFT side of the Library.

 

Library Don'ts

• No gum, candy, food, or drink is allowed in the Library.
• No cell phones may be used in the Library at anytime
including after school.
• No musical devices with or without headphones may be used in the Library at anytime including after school.

 

Library Passes

Students not accompanied by a teacher need to:
i. Present a pass from their teacher.
ii. Sign into the Library, writing legibly, using both first and last names.
iii. If asked, students should present their student ID.
Lunch period passes:
i. Students wishing to use the Library for only part of the period, need to obtain a Library pass from the Library staff prior to the beginning of the lunch period.
ii. Students will eat lunch first and then come to the Library for the remainder of the period.
iii. Library passes will not be given out in the lunchroom.
Lunch periods when no pass is needed:
i. Students wishing to use the Library for the entire period do not need a Library pass.
ii. They must arrive in the Library before the bell rings and stay until the end of the period.
Please note library is closed during 3rd lunch unless otherwise announced

 

Internet / Computer Use

• No emailing, chatting, game playing, downloading, objectionable websites, streaming video, or non-related school usage.
• One student per computer.

 

Checking Out Library Books

• Students must use their Student ID to check out books.
• Your library card is the same as your Student ID. If you do not have your Student ID, the book will be held for 24 hours. This will allow you to bring in your ID and check out your book.
• Books are checked out for 2 weeks. They may be renewed for another 2 weeks unless they have been reserved.
• Overdue books: Fines are 10 cents per school day.
• Lost or damaged books: Charged for the cost of actual replacement of the book.
• Back issues of magazines may be checked out for 2 weeks.

 

Library Beautification

• Students should return any books that were used while in the Library to the small/lower portion of the circulation desk which is directly across from the fiction section .
• Students should throw away all trash, push in their chairs, and return any borrowed items to the circulation desk.

 

School Rules and the Library

• The Library is not a social gathering place. It is a place to read, research, study, and find a good book.
• Students need to remember that all other school rules are in effect while visiting the Library.
• Students violating the above rules may be asked to leave the Library and/or restricted from using the Library, other than when accompanied by a teacher, for a designated period of time.
